AMRA Members will get their national points and if drivers want to join they can. We run Raceceivers and Transponders, so if you have them, bring them.  It is $10 to rent the Transponder.  Again, you must have a Raceciever.  All classes will be running which are AMRA Modifieds, AMRA KOM Late Models, Outlaw Mod Street, Pure Stocks, and Mini Wedges.  Come and celebrate Fourth of July and Beckley Motorsports Park.

Beckley Motorsports Park Announces the Date for the 5th Annual Randy Thurman Memorial and 3rd Annual K G Thurman Dash

Friday July 17th will be the date for the 5th Annual Randy Thurman Memorial and 3rd Annual K G Thurman Dash.  It will once again for the second year be sponsored by Little General Stores. This event is for the memory of one of Beckley Motorsports Parks favorite drivers that lost his life to cancer.  Randy Thurman is the only driver that made every Beckley USA 100 for 21 years straight. We are very proud to honor Randy Thurman and his dad K G Thurman for there support at Beckley Motorsports Park for the past 4 years and for years to come.  We also thank the race teams and fans that have came to this race the past 4 years and honored one of Beckley Motorsports Park's favorites.

The event this year for the Super Lates will be $3,000 to win, plus the K G Thurman Dash will be for the top 6 drivers out of the heats running for a $3,000 purse.  This event has been a fan favorite as we have had many different ways of placing the drivers in the dash. One was a gold rush with the kids with the most money picked up put the drivers in the starting spots.  Another was the Money Machine with the most money put drivers in there spots.  Lets see what we can come up with this year.

2007 - #6T Tim Dohm

Night #2 As Good As The First

Race #2 began with a great crowd and a    quick shower to water the pits.  Eighty-one  cars signed in to add ten cars to last weeks total.  Hot Laps and time trials in the top     three classes commenced in the AMRA      Super Lates, AMRA Modifieds and AMRA     KOM Late Models getting their 4 laps with    their best time being how their heats line     up.  In the AMRA Super Lates, 18 cars signed  in and the top time went to #12 Rick Williams    of Beckley WV.  The next group was the AMRA Modifieds with 19 cars qualifying and #41     Joe Cox of Beckley, WV the fastest.  The     third group was the AMRA KOM Late Models and #21 Mike Allen of Beckley, WV picking      up the top time for the second week in a row.

The first feature of the night was in the        Kids Mini Wedge division.  The track was         in better shape for the mini wedges and       two new cars was in attendance.  #C4    Nathan Carpenter of Parkersburg, WV,  youngest son of Fast Freddie Carpenter     came down to do battle with the brother  - sister combo of #21 Logan Allen and #11    Jacey Allen.  Logan would pick up the win    over Carpenter and Jacey Allen.

The first heat of the night was in the Pure   Stock division as they drew for starting  position. #81 Teddy Goins drew top spot       but had #41 Steve Stover on the outside. Stover got the lead and held on over 7th starting #1 1/2 Robet     Richardson. Teddy Goins finished third. Heat two had the Purple Terror #51          Curtis Wykle Jr come from the 5th starting   spot to win over #55 Matt Schoolcraft and James Lilly. Heat three went to rookie  contender #61 Ryan Wakeford lead the        way to the checkers in front of #10 Jack     Weis and #77 Jeff Endicott.

The AMRA KOM Late Models took to the track for two heats as #21 Mike Allen proved he    had fast time picking up the heat one win   over #36K Keith Bills and #18 Steve Adkins Jr rounded out the top three.  In heat two,   #45 Eddie Hambrick Jr lead the way over     #28 Aaron Barley  and  #25 Chad Justice.

AMRA Super Lates were next for heat race action.  #33 Chris Meadows used the high     side running the guardrail to the win over     fast time #12 Rick Williams and Beckley veteran Eslie Bills.  In heat two, #28R Harold Redman Jr didn't want to start in the back     two weeks in a row as he never let up with    the next two on his tail the whole 8 laps.  Redman would hold off #39 Henry Hornsby      Jr and last weeks winner #R1 Rod Evans for  the win and an outside front row start.

The Malta AMRA Modifieds was next on        the docate as the National Point Leader        was in town for the second week in a row.   In heat one, defending track champion #41       Joe Cox would get the win over first time   visitor #1F Jim Fordyce of Parkersburg, WV  and his cohort #28B Jason Brookover also       of Parkersburg.  Heat two went to the Boogerman #000 Robert Garnes over AMRA Modified National Point Leader #1st Brett Hamilton of VA and #5B Buddy Brogan    finishing 3rd.  In heat three, #71 Tony Garber and #22 Russell Erwin of Virgina finished one, two over newcomer #1H Jeff  Hess in third.

The Outlaw Modifed had three new drivers    but only 5 cars which we hope improves.      The heat went to last weeks winner #1K    Kevin Fitzwater over #17 Jason Cochran       and #12 Dale Kessell.

The 18 car AMRA Super Late 25 Lap feature saw the top six run together for most of the race taking shots at the bottom of the track to move up as the front runners as high as    you can go. Running third, #12 Rick Williams spun out in turn four on the bottom, going for the lead trying to pass #33 Chris Meadows   and Harold Redman Jr in on pass.  This gave #39 Henry Hornsby Jr the third spot and #R1 Rod Evans up to 4th.  Newcomer and first    time at the track #44 Jeff Burdette of Parkersburg,   WV learned the track fast as    he came from   9th starting position to picked off #36 Eslie Bills,   #2 Greg Buckland and    #64 Marshall Wiblin to finish 5th at the line.    At the end of 25 laps  #28R Harold Redman     Jr would pick up the win and keep his AMRA Super Late National Points lead over #33    Chris Meadows, #39 Henry Hornsby Jr, #R1 Rod Evans and   #44 Jeff Burdette.

The Malta AMRA Modified 20 Lap feature saw  a caution fest as the time limit was enforce at lap 15.  19 cars was in attendance as #41 Joe Cox and #000 Robert Garnes put on a show, side by side most of the race as well as at the line.  #1F Jim Fordyce had a great run and finished 3rd.  #28B Jason Brookover was running 3rd and had a flat tire, ruining his trip. AMRA National Point Leader #1st Brett Hamilton was moving forward when time expired to a  4th place finish.  #5B Buddy Brogan has a great night with a 5th place finish.  The race end on the front stretch with #71 Tony Garber having #37 Ryan Williams tangled together.  So the winner was #000 Robert Garnes over #41 Joe Cox, #1F Jim Fordyce, #1st Brett Hamilton    and #5B Buddy Brogan

The AMRA KOM Late Model 20 Lap feature  saw 14 cars take the green with #21 Mike  Allen and #45 Eddie Hambrick Jr doing battle for the second week in a row.  This week though didn't last long for Allen as he didn't finish the race.  #45 Eddie Hambrick Jr had another challenge this week and #25 Chad Justice had something for him.  They battled    it out all the way to the end with #45 Eddie Hambrick Jr winning his second feature over #25 Chad Justice.  #36K Keith Bills and #28 Aaron Barley fought it out with #22C Tate Hughes as the three was together at the line with Hughes coming from 9th to finish 5th.     So the top five in week two was #45 Eddie Hambrick Jr, #25 Chad Justice, #36K Keith  Bills, #28 Aaron Barley and #22C Tate   Hughes.

In Pure Stock action, 19 cars started the feature, but again the time limit was enforce and 6 laps was completed as their were to many cautions to count. #1 1/2 Robert Richardson would show that drawing the 18th spot at the pull draw wasnt ruining his night    as at the end of 8 laps in the heat and 6 laps  in the feature, put the neon green #1 1/2 in  the winners circle.  #41 Steve Stover's 2nd brides maid finish gives him the top spot in    the points after two weeks.  #55 Matt Schoolcraft kept his car streight to finish 3rd    in front of rookie contender #61 Ryan  Wakeford and #25 James Lilly.

The Outlaw Mod Street 15 Lap feature was    cut to 10 laps with only 3 cars making it to     the feature event and the #91 Rodney Evans breaking at the start and#41 Mike Lilly   breaking in hot laps. The top two pulled away for #12 Dale Kessell and ran the 10 laps straight thru with #1K Kevin Fitzwater getting the checkers over #17 Jason Cochran and #12 Dale Kessell.

This Friday July 3rd will be the 2009 version   of the Firecracker 30 for the AMRA Super Late Models with the winner getting $2,000.  Gates open at 4:30. Admission prices are the same.
